Humanitarian Aid and Animal Welfare Grants

We are concerned about the mistreatment of marginalized groups of people. We believe that all humans deserve healthy food, appropriate shelter, and access to medical care. We provide grants for humanitarian projects that improve the lives of people by: 1) providing training that will increase access to employment and therefore provide more income; 2) opposing hate groups and discrimination; 3) assisting refugees and indigenous people, particularly those who are increasingly affected by climate change; 4) providing home renovations or housing options for individuals who live in substandard housing; and 5) other innovative approaches.

We are also concerned about the ongoing neglect and abuse of animals. We believe that the circle of compassion should be expanded to include all beings on the earth. We are particularly bothered by the confinement and use of animals by humans, whether for entertainment, food, clothing, research, product testing, or other purposes. We believe that animals should be allowed to exist for themselves, and that they were not made to serve humans. We are also concerned about the unnecessary proliferation of companion animals and the resulting euthanasia of animals in shelters. We are interested in providing animal welfare/rescue grants that help to expand the circle of compassion by: 1) protecting poached and endangered wildlife; 2) increasing adoption of companion animals by supporting rescue agencies and by transporting animals away from high-kill shelters; 3) raising awareness about the spiritual aspects of human/animal interactions and the resulting benefits of respecting all animals and eliminating unnecessary animal testing and consumption; 4) eliminating cruel captivity of animals for human consumption, entertainment or other purposes; 5) providing homes for adult and senior animals who would potentially be overlooked by adopters; 6) providing grants for food programs and/or life-saving veterinary care for the companion animals of low-income people; 7) educating people about the abusive treatment of animals in the dairy, egg, and meat industries; 8) providing sanctuary for rescued wildlife, companion animals, and/or farm animals; and 9) other innovative approaches.
